WOOD / GROWTH

Cultivate in your life

The WOOD / GROWTH element is centered around cultivating stress management, nutrition, and sleep, the three keys areas that influence your restoration, regeneration, and repair of the bodies tissues. Here we focus on learning how to regulate your nervous system, eat for your constitution, and employ ways to ensure you are well rested, calm and nourished.

EARTH / MOVEMENT

Move Your Body

IN TCM 5 element theory the earth element is related specifically to the muscles and energy system, which respond amazingly to the right type of exercise. There are many systems and styles of exercise, from Qigong, Yoga to lifting weights and riding a bike. I will help you with the most appropriate type of exercise for your health goals. There is no reason why you cant have a program that includes strength training, some cardio and Yoga or Tai chi...in fact I believe this type of integrated program is highly beneficial.

FIRE / ALIGNMENT

Cultivating the Spirit

Shen or spirit is the inner fire, that thing that drives you. when you are in alignment to your values, principles and purpose your SHEN or spirit will be strong. The SHEN resides in the heart, so is related not only to cardiovascular health, but distributing the blood around the body and regulating the emotions. In this aspect of 5 element coaching we focus on being clear on the WHY of what you are doing, paying close attention to your purpose, and how to cultivate in your day to day health.

WATER / MIND

Cultivate your thoughts, feeling, emotions and behaviors

In TCM five element theory the mind is influenced by the water element particular. How you think, feel, and behave are often are often controlled through instinctual behviououral neural circuits. Understanding the mechanisms of these circuits, and practical protocols and practice you can employ allow you to balance out your state. On a deeper level mediation allows you to become aware of your thoughts (meta cognition) and to not associate a thought as truth. Another way to think of it is Behavior psychology, why do you do the things you do, what's driving them, and how can we develop a positive change

METAL / BREATH

Cultivate your Breath

The Meatal element relates specifically to the lungs, and how you breath. Breathwork practice are vital for health as it dictates the quantity and quality of oxygen you are getting. Oxygen is a vital gas that when combines with glucose in the cells mitochondria creates energy, or QI. Qigong and yoga pranayama practices are excellent to develop the breath, with many dating back centuries, they were often only taught in monasteries. Today we understand the sublte interplay between the breath, the nervous system and cellular enegy production, making it an essenital practice to learn if you wish to cultivate a balanced health program

  • Support, its my job to help you be successful, whcih includes keeping you on track, workshopping problems, and challenging you,

  • Autonomy - coaching biulds skills that develop confidence, which in turn creates autonomy. We have one session together each week, I need you to be able to practice on your own so we can make progress together.

  • Mastery - the ultimate goal is to be able to be in tune with your own body and health needs. I want you to be able to master your program!

  • purpose - i'll help you understand the purpose of each practice, there is always a reason why we do each exercise, practice or skill. I want you to trust the process by understanding the what, why and hows

Your commitment

things to consider before you start a 12 month program

  • TIME - are you able to commit to weekly online sessions in addition to your own practice.

  • Are you open to the coaching process. Coaching is more collaborative, where we work together, it requires practice on your behalf to biuld up the skills and habits

  • COST - this program is not cheap, however consider the cost of dealing with a chronic illness or condition. Exercise as medicine programs can save you money in the long term, and more importantly potential resolve health issues.

  • BALANCE - this program is about balance, if you feel a connection to nature, to yin and yang, to cultivating all aspects of health, physicals, mental , emotion, and the spirit then this program is for you

  • ADAPTABLE - do you embrace change, are you adaptable, or would like to cultivate more of this.
